About
The Red Panda is a critically endangered species native to the temperate forests of the eastern Himalayas and southwestern Chine. Its population is declining due to habitat loss and fragmentation caused by deforestation, agricultural expansion, and human development, while climate change and illegal poaching continue to threaten its survival.
Although Red Pandas spend much of their lives in the trees and feed primarily on bamboo, they also eat fruits, berries, insects, and small animals. They play an important role in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems by dispersing seeds and contributing to the balance of the food web.
Because Red Pandas rely on large, connected forests to survive, protecting their habitat also helps conserve countless other plants and animals that share these unique mountain ecosystems.
