About

The Bale Mountains tree frog is a critically endangered species found only in the high-altitude forests of Ethiopia’s Bale Mountains. Its population is threatened by habitat loss from deforestation, livestock grazing, expanding agriculture, climate change, and disease.

Despite its small size, this frog play an important role in its ecosystem by controlling insect populations, serving as prey for other wildlife, and acting as an indicator of environmental health due to its sensitivity to habitat change.

Protecting the Bale Mountains tree frog helps preserve the unique biodiversity of one of Africa’s most important mountain ecosystems.
